Out With It

Finding and Creating Safe Spaces in 2025 ⎹ Family Week

Family Equality

In this episode of "Out With It," we're exploring the history of Family Week — from its unexpected beginnings in 1994 to the massive phenomenon it's become over 30 years later. How did a seemingly simple safe space become the largest gathering of LGBTQ+ families in the world? And how can you create that same sense of safety and belonging at home? We're excited to host special guests, including Scott Davenport, one of the parents who helped found Family Week; Donna Walker, Provincetown's Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Manuel Quintero, a current Family Week attendee and the founder of the San Diego Gay Dads Group.

Family Equality is creating a world where everyone can experience the love, safety, and belonging of family. As the leading national organization for current and future LGBTQ+ families, we work to ensure that everyone has the freedom to find, form, and sustain their families by advancing LGBTQ+ equality through advocacy, support, storytelling, and education.
